A roof rail is a longitudinal bar that is attached to the roof of a car. It gives the vehicle a sporty look and emphasises the side line. Above all, the roof rail is intended as a load carrier. For this purpose, the crossbars/roof racks are attached to the side rails. All kinds of loads can then be attached to These.

The high load capacity makes the racks an all-rounder for travelling on holiday or for daily use. In principle, there is a maximum roof load for each vehicle. You will find the height of the roof load in the operating instructions of your vehicle. The weight for the roof rack, roof box or bicycle holder must be deducted from this value.

USE AND EXTENSIONS FOR THE SET

Apart from enhancing the appearance of the Jumpy L2, the actual purpose of a roof railing is to provide an attachment point for loads. The railing accommodates the crossbars, to which you can in turn attach a variety of other attachments:

• jet bags
• roof boxes
• roof tents
• loose loads (e.g. squared timbers from the DIY store)

Tension straps are suitable for loose products. Please ensure that the roof load is properly secured before each journey.

Please bear in mind that fitting a roof rail increases the clear vehicle height by 2.5 - 8 cm. This can be particularly relevant for vans or SUVs, for example, when driving into car parks with low ceilings.

Tightening torques for roof rails are 8 Newton metres.

For the transport of additional luggage on the roof, a suitable roof rail with ABE is the optimal prerequisite. The roof rack is mounted on it.  However, the load to be transported is limited, as is the height of the cargo, so that obstructions to other road users and accidents can be ruled out. The maximum additional roof load is regulated in the documents of the respective vehicle, as well as whether the model is at all suitable for mounting a roof rack. Nowadays, these are integrated into almost every car, or it is at least possible to fit them.

• Assembly time approx. 30 - 60 minutes
• Your own installation is possible, a visit to the workshop is not absolutely necessary.
• The maximum roof load of this vehicle is 150 kg according to the manufacturer.
• Total height of the vehicle by approx. 2.5 cm - 8 cm. (varies depending on the vehicle)
